Clay Tennis Courts - Ceramic Granes

Our background

The Company has been operating for over 90 years, originally manufacturing roof tiling and ceramic bricks.

The production of Red clay in various grain sizes commenced in 2007. The initial raw materials that are used are derived from the blending of excellent quality clays sourced from the wider SW regions of Greece. Factors such as the metal percentages contained in the clay, and the baking temperature of the Raw Materials (brick – roof tiles) are decisive in the product’s ultimate performance.

The pure Red clay that we produce, without additives, is certified under ISO 9001:2008

Clay Courts

Composition
Flooring that is constructed with pure and specifically calibrated Red clay, without impurities, which retains moisture and provides plasticity.

Uses
For high standard tennis matches (the biggest tournaments around the world are hosted on clay courts), ensuring relaxed games that resolve the problems of disputed balls with a clear imprint of the ball.

Features

Colour
Natural clay colour.

Appearance
Non-reflective and seamless, which provides athletes with controlled slippage.

Application
The specificities in manufacturing are of a standard requiring a specific methodology that ensures proper behaviour in maintaining a clay court.

Maintenance
Courts comprised of Red clay are "living" tennis courts. The baked and ground soil remains in good condition as long as it is maintained (with soaking, levelling and compression). It breaks down, hardens and is lost if it is not maintained.

Product Technical Features

DRAINAGE BASE  2-10 mm

A Drainage base comprised of crushed and brittle ceramic elements ensures perfect water drainage, which in turn releases the moisture upwards through the impact of water evaporation.

BASIC LAYER  0-2 mm

The underlying playing surface (Basic Layer) is comprised of pure Red clay, without additives, with the requisite properties (elasticity, absorption and ejection of moisture), which due to the unique method of crushing the raw materials also renders it suitable for pitches exposed to wind (windproof).

FINAL LAYER  0-1 mm

A specifically graduated Red clay (powder) is used for the final surface or mixed with the BASIC LAYER. Its main feature is controlled slippage on the playing surface.

COMMENTS:

All graduated Red clays can be mixed according to the customer’s requirements or the requirements of the person responsible for pitch maintenance.
